Dear Frustrated Mom,
Let me share my embarrassing story with you…
My Name is Laura and I used to be a fat and frumpy mom. You know the one I’m talking about, the one that “let herself go”.
I was the mom you’d see, looking disheveled and stressed out, when you dropped your kids off at school. Most mornings I’d get dressed in the dark and felt lucky if my socks matched… Yup, that was me.

I had lost my confidence, identity and happiness when it was replaced by several pounds of baby fat.
I desperately wanted to be the young, cute and fit mom but I just couldn’t seem muster up the energy to get there. Even though I am young, I felt OLD, UGLY and FAT.
Since you’re a mom (you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t) you can probably relate to the feeling of not having any energy and motivation left at the end of the day, after caring for family of 2 young children, a husband, a house and a dog!
Every day I would wake up exhausted and go to bed feeling the exact same way. I’d start the mornings with, “today is the day I’m gonna get back to the gym” or “my diet starts today”.
And every day would end the same, with a lot of disappointment.
I couldn’t understand why it was so difficult to get my body and life back under control. I mean, I wasn’t always like this…
Before I had kids, I was in great shape, I exercised regularly, I enjoyed eating healthy foods, and most importantly I was energetic and beamed with self-confidence.
Of course, probably much like you, that all changed after having my first kid. I promised myself I wouldn’t use
childbirth as an excuse for letting myself go.
Don’t get me wrong, we both know pregnancy can wreck havoc on your body but there’s plenty of women who get right back into their fitness routine and never have to suffer with the dreadful feelings of being fat.
I swore the latter wouldn’t happen to me…
My hopes and best intentions went out the window daily when stress and sleepless nights zapped any motivation I had.
Not only was I not successful at losing the baby fat from my first child but I also started putting on extra weight on, on top of that!
The next 2 years flew by and before I ever had a chance to reclaim my body, I got pregnant with my 2nd. And this new baby brought on even more weight and fat than before.
I was frustrated and depressed, thinking my once sexy and fit physique was gone and I would have to live in this tired, fat and frumpy body forever.
But since I’m not a quitter, I went on a mission to try and fail just about every quick fix and fad diet out there, I tried: low-fat diets, blood type diets, vegetarian diets, liquid diets, I tried too many to list here.
Ultimately I only saw a little short lived success but then just as quickly as I would lose 10 pounds, I would yo-yo back and put on a couple extra!
It literally felt like in the blink of an eye, both my kids were in school and I was my heaviest ever, wearing bigger clothes than ever before…
Every day I felt:
- Depressed when I got dressed

3 Reasons You’re Still Carrying “Baby Fat”
Fat Faux Pas #1: Your Diet Is Focused On The Wrong Enemy
What if I told you that your diet could actually be making you fatter?
All day long we’re fed misinformation on what is healthy and what is not. We’re misguided by the media and so-called experts, who’ve never had their body ravaged by pregnancy, telling us how to lose weight.
You know the types of programs I’m referring to: the ones where you count calories, carbs and eat low fat foods. (Note: continue reading to learn why fat is actually your friend). Or better yet, programs that tell you to drink just lemon water for 10 days!
Sure you MIGHT lose a little bit of weight the first couple of weeks but, just as fast as it came off, those stubborn pounds come flying right back on and usually bringing with them a couple of extra friends.
What the so-called experts and even your doctor are failing to tell you is that the real enemy isn’t fat, carbs or some other food you’re eating. The really enemy and more accurately, the VICTIM, is your HORMONES.
You see, your hormones control every aspect of your body. Whether you gain weight, lose weight or stay the same – your hormones are in charge. They even control when you’re feeling hungry and when you’re feeling full. When your hormones get out of Sync, all sorts of dysfunctions and even diseases occur. One of the biggest signs that you may have a hormonal imbalance is carrying fat around your middle or what we call “Belly Fat”.
Belly Fat is extremely dangerous and should not be taken lightly. In fact having even a slight belly pooch can raise your blood pressure, negatively alter good and bad cholesterol levels and increase your risk for Cardiovascular disease, Stroke, Type 2 diabetes, Breast cancer and Colorectal cancer – just to name a few. And the more belly fat you have the more out of Sync your hormones become, causing you to get fatter and unhealthier. It’s a vicious cycle that needs to be stopped NOW.
These are just a few common signs that your hormones may be out of Sync:
- you crave sweets and sugary foods (especially at night)
- even though your routine stays the same, you gain weight
- you don’t sleep well
- you feel bloated all the time
- you feel constipated often
- you lack the motivation to exercise
- you have a low sex drive
- you experience moodiness and irritability
- you have low energy or constant fatigue
- you feel depressed often
- you have poor immunity (frequent colds/flu)

Fat Faux Pas #2: Doing Cardio To Lose Fat
You’ve probably heard the advice; to gain muscle you lift weights and to burn fat you do cardio.This advice is simply untrue.
Traditional “Cardio” is typically any exercise you do for a prolonged (30-60 minutes) period of time to get your body into it’s “fat burning zone” – think jogging on a treadmill for 45 minutes).
If losing fat is your goal, doing cardio is a BAD IDEA. Here are the 3 main reasons why you should not waste your time doing cardio:
1) As a busy mom, do you really have the time in your day to do 30-90 minutes of boring cardio each day? If your fitnessprogram doesn’t realistically fit into your schedule, don’t even try getting it started.
The failure rate of an unrealistic fitness program is 100%. And even if you do lose a few pounds, the yo-yo effect of regaining the weight will further wreak havoc on your already out of Sync hormones causing you to… you guessed it, gain more fat.
2) Exercising in your Fat-Burning Heart Rate Zone will only burn a few calories and waste a lot of your precious time. We’ve already covered how important and limited your time as a Mom is, wouldn’t you want to spend that time burning the most amount of fat as possible?

If you workout in your traditionally prescribed “fat-burning zone” (yes quote/unquote), you severely limit the amount of actually fat your body can burn.
This is because in order to benefit from a secret technique that REV’s UP your Metabolism into hyper-drive and continues to incinerate the fat after you’ve long left the gym, you have to train outside of your traditional heart reate zones.
In other words, If you want burn fat around the clock from a single workout, you need to STAY OUT of your “fat-burning zone” as much as possible.
