Michael Elefante and his wife Jill began investing in short-term rentals in 2019. Their goal was financial freedom and the ability to control their time fully. They started with two properties in Nashville, Tennessee, and quickly expanded, adding two in Gatlinburg, TN, and two in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Fast forward to 2022, their six properties generate over $80,000 per month on sites like Airbnb and VRBO. With over one million followers, Michael is an industry influencer and the founder of Airbnb Investor Academy, where he teaches others the fast path to financial freedom via short-term rental investment. As Michael and many of his students have scaled their short-term rental business, they realized a significant pitfall within the industry.
